|
The Hub is intended to simplify access to the File Maker Pro Cable Database file folder by using a browser to open the necessary software applications. Access is available without interfering with the functionality of the primary database. The database Hub provides a convenient means for viewing the contents of all the databases and their auxiliary files. In case the beams-cdrom (mirror) server is down the Hub contains copies of the files necessary for filling out Cable Request Forms in Excel rather than File Maker Pro.
The user can view existing files, download forms, submit cable installation approvals, generate cable label requests, and perform basic database queries, with no need for a local copy of File Maker Pro. This Hub contains immediate on-line assistance in the form of graphics, relevant information, and detailed instructions for filling out request forms. It provides a guide to database fundamentals including basic instructions for performing database searches, browsing, using layout modes, the "marked" field and more.
The Hub and its web interface accesses a mirror database file folder via either browser (Netscape or Explorer) without the need for personal copies of the database software. This web server can open and run the necessary software. It can be found here Mirror Cable Database, It is updated regularly. Nonetheless, the most up-to-date versions lie in the primary Beams Division Server shared file folder.
