Minutes of the May 13, 2005 Tevatron Dept Meeting 1. Dept news: Vladimir informed about addition possibilities for summer students (talk to me, if you need one). 2. Jerry on operations: 6 stores, Lumi from 53 to (another record) 127e30; D0 losses did not bother us much in low-luminosity stores; 150 GeV lifetime in the last one was not great (ops error in Q' settings). All BPM (except A0) are installed and functional. 3. Bruce, Todd and Jim Volk on access last Thursday: we fixed crystal collimator movement mechanism, PPD HLS system in B-sector, it was realized that A49 HV separator RGA head is not working because its amplifier died in the tunnel. Where to move ORBITH(V) is still in the air (A0 location is bad because of P3 line ramping effect). 4. Ron on in-store pbar tune stabilization studies: it was demonstrated that we can change pbar tunes by +0.006 (they decay by -(0.006-0.010) in store); dQX(Y)LB mults are off scale by 30-50%; proton tunes untouched; pbar lifetimes and backgrounds are affected - after 1/2 hr of initial improvements, they deteriorate and then recover again - may be due to (unwanted) Q' or orbit changes (to be checked). 5. Vladimir analyzed Supertable data and concluded that currently 60% of luminosity decay rates are due to the beam emittance growth and 40% are due to particle intensity losses (a year ago it was oppposite 40+60%). Beam-beam effects on pbars and protons reduce luminosity lifetime by 8+4=12%. Minutes recorded by V. Shiltsev, edited by R. Moore
