Minutes of the Sept 2, 2005 Tevatron Dept Meeting 1. Dept news: a) Congratulatiosn to Andreas with a newborn baby-girl!; b) XiaoLong shared his impressions on Snowmass'05 where he participated in transport line and DR WGs. 2. Ron on operations: 6 stores with lumi btw 91 (RR only store) to 127e30; 2 ended earlier because of feeder 46 and 47 glitches; lifetimes and losses OK (e.g. 1.5% pbars in squeeze); beam vacuum is worsening in F-sector due to P2 line leak. 3. Bruce tried to adjust MI energy to reduce phase oscillation at injection in the Tev of some 0.5 (1) ns for protons(pbars) or 10(20) MeV - as seen from Vic-Jerry's BLT. It worked but we'd better adjust Tev 150 GeV energy (to be tried today). 4. Tan used tune tracker in 36x0 store and saw no unusual losses on the ramp; TT worked on ramp and in squeeze; there was a strange "slip" of vertical tune at 980 - may be related to mysterious phase offset change. 5. Seva measured TEL-2 SC solenoid magnetic field line straightness with Hall probe and with a magnetic arrow: the first method gave +-0.5mm deviations, the arrow reported +-0.15mm (he believes the arrow). He also reported status of SC solenoid warmup and new SEFT e-gun tests. 6. Alvin analysed Aug'05 IBS experiment data when 12 p-bunches with different intensities and emittances were left alone for few hours at 980 GeV. There is a clear linear dependence of emittance growth rates on the IBS factor F=N/emm1/5sigma_s, though coefficients are 20-30% different from what was found in a similar study in Dec'04 - Alvin attributes that to FWs uncertainties and requested FWs coeeficients used in the front-end calculations (like beta and D -functions in the FWs) to be datalogged.
